A friend of mine forgot (!!) :confused: to renew his EAD when it expired last September. He then applied for renewal 60 days after the expiration date and got his new EAD without any problem, no questions asked!
I filed for my own renewal about 90 days before the expiration date and when about 85 days had passed and I was getting worried, I called USCIS and was told: " Do you need the card to show your employer that you are legal? No? Then, don't worry about it. As long as you applied on-time, you are fine." I actually received the EAD five days after the expiration date...
These two experiences are from California Center.

You (or people like you) are not "fighting" corruption or injustice, you are just serving your interests. Al least have the guts to admit that.
When did you guys start fighting corruption, injustice and fraud ? Maybe you guys were always excited about Mahatma Gandhi or Mother Teresa all your life ! Be straightforward. There are no kindergarten students on this forum. We all know your intentions.
Again we all know outsourcing is going to hurt everyone. That doesn't mean I will try to shut the doors behind me. Many of us were not brought up that way.
Of course yes its for our interest BUT don't forget that its against a violation. Tomorrow if the same organization brings resources in H-1B/EAD/GC/Citizenship we are not going to complain about it ... because its within whats allowed by the law, I think thats the purpose of having rules ... to have a fair playing ground ... think abt the havoc/chaos these companies could create by bringing people without any visa (illegally across borders) and talk about 'closing the doors and me not brought up that way', do you think that anyone including you would support that???. Here the purpose of L-1B visa is misused and blindly violated, so lets move in the right direction, we are not asking all L-1B visas to be banned BUT to investigate the abusal of that visa category and we are just pointing out the incidents where we think its getting violated. After so many countries who receive major immigrant influx like UK, Australia, Canada and New Zealand have implemented a points based system why on earth lawmakers here don't wake-up. In a post-crisis world if US does not regain the old economic supremacy we'll see expatriate population redirecting itself.
It's already happening with Canada's AINP program. If some of the anti-immigrant comments are to be believed Canadians must be darn fools :D

I and my wife both have approved I-140. My PD is Dec 8, 2003 and my wife has Dec 24, 2003. I am applying as beneficiary through my wife's application. Is it possible to use my PD instead? Both are EB3.

However, in this particular discussion - I guess it will help us all if we could keep the hectoring and general negative rhetoric out of it. Calling someone anti-immigrant in a derogatory fashion because he is opposed to our views - is negative rhetoric. So is the comparison of L1 abuse with house burglary.

If you already have applied in EB2 you won't be affected.
If you have a Masters you won't be affected.
I am EB2 India with Dec 2005 waiting. I think all EB applications should have fair short. So if a EB3 can become a EB2 legally, I think it is a fantastic thing.
I did not know about this rule. I changed employer in Jan 2005. My last employer's lawyer ill advised them to file me under EB3 in spite of the fact that the job paying off close to 200 k in compensation required B +8 and M+4 years of experience. I changed the job in Sep 05. Next company did the right thing and started the labor in EB2. I did not know about porting/interfiling otherwise my PD would have been Jan 2005. So even if I would have done a Port/Interfile, how am I at fault ?

So What Happens To His/her Gc Process.
What I Have Been Reading Here Is That The Place U Get Your Labor/i140 Cleared And If U Move U Have To Get It Again.
I Am Novice In This Area And I Hope I Am Asking The Right Question.

it looks like many folks got their approval one day after filing an SR - coincidence or a trigger? Is filing the SR somehow triggering the IOs to look at your file ?
However, many people who filed SR on the first working day of the month 08/02 were not approved the next day. Also, the many others who bombarded the USCIS with multiple requests/queries had to wait much longer or are still waiting.
It is almost like the IOs didn't like to be bothered on the first working day of this month (when the begin working on a fresh set of files) and also didn't like to be pushed too much.
Or is this all just a super coincidence for hundreds of people?

Hundreds of legal immigrants are resorting to a new tactic this week in their pursuit of green cards: sending flowers to the head of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
The publicity stunt follows lobbying efforts and lawsuits protesting a sudden change in the rules that govern employer-sponsored immigrants. After rushing to submit green-card applications by July 2, the immigrants were told at the last minute to keep waiting.
Notes being delivered to Emilio Gonzalez, head of USCIS, along with the bouquets skip over the pleasantries and speak directly to the bureaucracy.
"Kindly do not return our I-485 petitions in July," the messages say, "and honor the original DOS visa bulletin."
The dispute concerns a U.S. Department of State bulletin from mid-June, dictating who could apply for an immigrant visa. The application is the final hurdle in getting a green card, or permanent residency. Because of a backlog, immigrants spend years waiting their turn, but the unusual June bulletin gave most job-based immigrants the go-ahead to apply.
Jakub Gorecki, who lives in Spring Valley, hurried to get his paperwork together in time. The thick packet of documents - medical exams, vaccination records, a birth certificate from Poland, a $325 application fee - was to arrive July 2 at USCIS, he said.
But that morning, a new bulletin came out, canceling the offer. No applications would be accepted until the new fiscal year in October.
The reversal sent Gorecki and others back to a limbo state.

when talking to my friends about IV I have observed the following:
1) they prefer to "visit" the iv site to get a first hand look at what IV is about
2) they tend to classify IV as a discussion forum rather than a movement - a couple of people have said that they did not notice any difference between IV and the other boards. they bookmark it and come back only when they have a burning question.
3) once i tell them about IV's achievements they do seem interested but most appear to be afraid (or lazy?) in actively joining - either monetarily or otherwise.
4) some people do not even want to post questions actively - instead ask me the question and expect me to post the question/ help them out with a response (not sure why - privacy issues?) - have others seen this also?
I don't know how to convince the lazy ones - but for the others, would it make sense to restructure the site a little bit so that the home page is a little less noisy and has only information about the underlying movement , IV's achievements and then has a link to the the message board (as a feature of IV rather than it defining IV)?
I think we are making a big deal of red and green dots. It is only in recent times that people are complaining so much about misuse. We can get rid of it, but then moderation will be tough. I do not think that is the reason for not participating. We do not have much awareness about IV in the community. When we say half million applications are pending, why are we not getting those on IV?
We need help in raising awareness about this cause in the community. Let us make that as the first action item this new year. All members can take initiatives and help. It does not cost any money and IV is not asking any money. We just need more participation.

IF they were PD's we shouldnot be seeing anything after Jul 2007 [as those were the farthest PD's ever reached].
Seems logical, but on the other hand if that were to be the case, then why isn't there a spike in June-July '07 to reflect the deluge of 485 filings?

Guys, I received a "Processing Complete" email from the consulate this morning (Jan 9th). My interview at the Mumbai consulate was on Dec 28th. I submitted my PP to the VFS and should have it back in a couple of days. Good luck to everyone and thank you for all the posts!

Today got the magic e-mail Card/ Document Production . Looks like the SR submitted 3 days back worked in my case. Prior to my SR the IO said that they don't have FP cleared, I called FBI and confirmed that they sent back my FP's and in my SR I request the IO to input the details that I got from FBI, Looks like that did the trick.
