true, my green card was filled EB 3 Software Engineer, today I am an architect, jumped 3 level up . I dont know why you can't get promoted.
You can still get promoted while on H1B just don't give up hope. If you're not getting promoted even if you're performing well, then there's something fishy going on with your employer.

DISCLAIMER: I am not a lawyer and none of the below is legal advice. This is just to give you can idea. You should consult with lawyer or your state's authorities for laws pertaining to your state regarding gun ownership and license.
First of all, gun ownership is a right that is protected by 2nd amendment of US constitution, but the laws governing the ownership and usage are state laws.
So everything depends on the state where you live in. But in all 50 states, you have the right to own a gun because that right is protected by US constitution. You can be on H1 and own a gun, gun laws I think have nothing to do with your status, as long as you are legal.
Buying and Owning : Firstly, different states have different paperwork requirements to determine if you are legally present in US. If you are, then you have the right to own a gun if you want to.
Firearms ownership usually begins by you applying for a FOID card. FOID is Fire-arm Ownership Identification Card. You can find a form to fill out this paperwork at any place that sells guns. For example, shooting ranges, Sportsman's Warehouse, REI, they all sell guns and so they have forms that they can help you fill out to get FOID card. Once you get FOID card, you can buy a gun. FOID card may be called by a different name in different states, I live in Illinois, here its called FOID card. If you have a criminal history, then you may be denied this card depending on which state you live in.
Documents required for FOID card or gun permit maybe :
Passport, I-94, Alien number, valid visa, driver's license, proof of residence (utility bill). This list may vary, check your state's websites. Some states require you to live in that state for 6 months before you can own a gun.
Some states also have a one-week waiting period between applying for license and buying a gun. In California, you have to wait one week before you can buy a gun. You cant just go there, apply for permit and buy a gun in one day. This law may be there to prevent aggravated behavior as a person is likely to cool off anger or aggravation in 7 days. Depends again, on your state.
What kind of guns : In most states (I think all states), fully automatic guns are illegal and are not sold. Silencers are also illegal and not sold I think. Also, if you buy a shotgun (which is easier to use as you dont have to aim, it shoots pellets, not bullets, but a dozen or so, so its easier to aim), then the length of the barrel has to be certain inches (depending on state). If you saw it off, then its illegal. (because its easier to hide sawed off shot guns, hence illegal).
How you carry around the guns is also governed by local laws. There is a separate permit to carry guns in a concealed manner- concealed license. If you dont have such permit, then you have to carry your gun in such a manner that its visible to everyone. In some states, even that may not be legal, I dont know, check your states laws.

For example, in Texas, I think, (not sure) it is legal to shoot a person who is running away from your or your neighbor after stealing something or robbing you. Even if that person no longer poses a threat to your life or property and running away from you, if he stole something from you or your neighbor, you can shoot him. In some states, you can shoot someone only if that person is posing an immediate threat to you. If a person is of immediate threat, but if you are in a position to run away from him/her to safety, then you cannot shoot that person. Again, depends on your state.
Should you buy, and what should you buy : This depends on your requirements. If you live in a isolated remote jungle somewhere, if you dont feel safe, then maybe. But if you are eligible to buy, and if you do buy, then here are the tips you may want to follow :
1. Choose carefully, as guns are expensive.
2. Buy a safe first, where you can keep guns safely away from children.
3. Take classes, or learn from a friend at a shooting gallery. Even basic usage of gun is risky if you dont know what you are doing.

First they should give detailed plan out. even then point system is a pain , no benefits till final stage. its good for all right if one has to sit in 25 years waiting for his turn on visa instead of green card... good luck for all who support this. Other countries who use point system compare the numbers... US has far more immigrants than any other country... if point system is open everyone can apply. But thats good ... but in negative side how can you control huge workload w/o increasing numbers and infact other countries doesnt have numerical limits they control by points. if US has numbers and then point system nothing but taking away all of our benefits go back and wait for 20 years one way of saying go back. realize it.

Ron has not made prediction specifically about India. Somebody asked Ron about filing I-485 with May 2004 PD without mentioning that (s)he was from India. So Ron probably assumed RoW. The OP later clarified that (s)he is from India and Ron hasn't replied to that. So let's wait for Ron to reply before getting excited about it.
If Ron meant EB3-I, he's probably expecting a July 2007 kind of bump, which allows a lot of people to file but results in very few approvals. This can be inferred from his statement that, "your priority date will become current, briefly, in a few months".
We EB3-I's are looking for any sign, just any sign of hope. But let's be cautious in disseminating such information further.

Just Thought
There is 200k application without 140 approval, this is including july filers.
there is lot of chnace for those who got their I-140 approved, even their PD '2006.
you can see people getting approved PD'2005 EB2 cases, even then VB says now 2004'apr for EB2.They are not processing based on PD now and in future also i gues.Since we have already filed.PD will restrict only to File I-485 in future.

Sorry to say this but this is the bitter truth. if you or your spouse's self esteem is so hurt because of the inability to work, fight for it and get H-4's the ability to work. Some thing like Lily ledbetter (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lilly_Ledbetter_Fair_Pay_Act) did. Just blaming that it hurts my self esteem does not win brownie points.

Many here are 'strongly against' those 'horrible' desi or whatever companies after getting an h1b through them. As we know most of the software consultants are here only because those companies could utlize the loopholes in the system. (We all know that this labor certification and such things are nonsense!). It is great to fight for 'legal' things but when you see those who misusd it themselves are 'fighting' for it, makes people feel so funny! We all know that what we all need is GC, whatever be the way, and whatever happens to 'others'. It is legitimate and understandable to fight for 'our cause', otherwise who will fight for us?

Has anyone seen the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at the MLK memorial at Atlanta as well as a whole section devoted to Gandhi in the museum.
So I guess it does more than "work in a foreign land"....it can change individual's worldviews!

Ask your self questions like some of the below:
1) how long u are planning to stay in house/US - based on this u can use rent vs Buy calculators to see which option is better for you.
2) is ur monthly income (Net .. not gross) is enough to buy the house u want? - means house in good location, with minimum sqft, enough rooms etc
3) is this right time for you or r u just want to take advantage of 8000/- pay back - if so please think twice - you can save or get back this money by other means if you carefully plan. Just see if you are better off purchasing house next year.
4) if the house purchased, will you able to fund any future investments?
many more personal things to consider...

Don't worry about this bill being rejected. I am pretty sure one way or the other they need to increase the EB visa number soon, else definetely USCIS will be in big trouble with thousands of applications sitting there for them, now having said that USCIS will find a way to get some bill which will have EB visa count increased passed in congress, so untill then cheer up and complete your filing.:) :) :)

I think your plan may work out just fine. I would make a couple of suggestions:
1. If you are taking LOA from original employer, for practical purposes (for USCIS), you are not employed with that employer any more (they go by pay stubs). But if doing so helps to avoid revocation of 140, go ahead and do it that way.
2. Because you will actually get your pay check from new employer, you are employed by them (and you will work on EAD with them, make sure that this is mentioned on your I-9 form). No matter how much ignorant your employer is, they will have to have I-9 on file and it must have your EAD (not H1).
3. After doing this, you will be on I 485 pending status (no longer on H status), and so make sure you have current EAD and AP all the time.
4. If something goes wrong with your I 485 (very unlikely); you will have to leave the country and enter back on H visa and work for H visa sponsoring employer (probably your old employer).
5. It is perfectly fine to not file AC21. AC21 is needed only if you do not plan to join original sponsoring employer after GC approval. However, if you do want to file AC21, you do not need much documentation from your new employer. It just needs the simple letter stating your job position as a "physician" and brief job duties (briefer the better!) and salary (should be proportional or higher). If you do not file AC21, you may just keep that documentation on file with your attorney (which I would do to be on safe side). The implication of having this is as follows:
--If you have this documentation (even if not filed with USCIS), at the time of approval of your GC you will have the option of just staying with new employer or going back to original employer.
--If you do not have this, you will have to go back to original employer after GC approval with a "good faith intention of permanent job".

Trust me my friend, I have seen it happen all the time, from large Telecom firm to Govt., its always there, most of the consultants just doesn't come to know about it, but the cut for the managers is there in some form, almost always. Why do each manager has a specific vendor through whom they want to hire most of the time? What else is the reason for the client to pay the consulting company $180/hr but they won't give 'valueablehurdle' anything more than $50-60/hr?
On a different note, now that NSG approved the waiver, most desi uncles, some of them are also owners of desi consulting companies will claim that they are the father of Nuclear deal. These bastards (sorry for my french) always oppose any GC fix and they tell their favorite congressman/senator (each has atleast one favorite politician for whom they do fund raisers) that gc backlog is not an important issue for the community. India Abroad, Times of India, rediff and other desi portals/newspapers will write 'Oliver North' style stories about these desi uncles knowing well that companies like GE etc put their weight behind the deal as it will create commerce to commerce over $20 billion/yr. But desi uncles/orgs will not stop claiming to be the father of nuclear deal. The fact is, most of these desi uncles made noise not because they wanted to do something for their country of birth, they are doing it because they think that if the nuclear deal passes, they can play middle man for US companies to sell the technology/material to Indian companies/govt. Most of the so called 'united voice of Indian-Americans on the Hill' organization's goal is to make big bucks by playing 'middle man' for companies wanting to sell technology to India. And as always, just as 'valuablehurdle''s client (paying $180/hr) Indian govt. will pay double the cost. These desi companies have squeezed blood of people waiting for gc, but now they think its time to move on to play big game with the big boys. These desi companies have squeezed blood of people waiting for gc, but now they think its time to move on to play big game with the big boys. These desi uncles/orgs are going nuclear.... time for Rediff and India Abroad to play Oliver North. Sometimes the line between capitalism and cycle of corruption is extremely blur. The problem is, these desi uncles/orgs claim to be representatives of entire Indian-American community, sometimes the entire immigrant community. They don't know more than 100 people, but they claim to be the leaders of all 2.5 million indian americans. Sorry for my french, but these bastards are the owners of desi consulting firms who have done a lot of harm to many communities.
I think IV should compete openly with USINPAC which realistically doesnt have any grassroots support.
