We need to acknowledge her support and do something to convey our happiness/gratitude over her reaction to this mess.
Before we ask Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren for any further help/support, don't you guys think it will be appropriate to first thank her in some kind of noble way? Any ideas?
I personally think (at least to begin with) a letter expressing gratitude for and our faith in her efforts would be a nice gesture.:)

I saw that. Looks like you are trying to pimp for a lawyer. Learn to stand on your own 2 feet first.
All you have done is made a phone call to a lawmaker office. Before you start a poll go and meet your lawmaker and learn how to talk to lawmakers. That will be a good start.
What made you think that he was associated with a law office? What makes you an authority to ask people to stand on their feet?
Have you talked to your lawmaker(s)? If so enlighten us with the "learn how to talk to lawmakers" part of your crappy post.
I hope not all "senior" members share your optimistic attitude.

Great post, ravi98. Also, I totally agree with smuggymba.
There are some members like bitzbytz who have already filed their I-485 in 2007 and their priority date is right around the corner. They've only got a couple of months to go.
But then there are the rest of us who have a much longer wait. My brother, for instance, is looking at 5 or 6 years to get his green card. I got put through a Technology Alert List (TAL) check last time I went to apply for my visa, got stuck for close to 3 months, and will likely have to go through screening every single time I apply for a visa. Needless to say, it is a major pain.
I am sure there are more members like me who are going through similar issues or who have to wait years for a green card. If we don't lobby for changes, who is going to do it for us? It's going to be very difficult to get anything done with the mentality that 'I will participate / contribute if I see results'. ' It's highly unlikely that it is going to be successful, so what's the point?' Now, I'm not naive or stupid. I know that reducing the EB backlog is a very difficult task. However, if we don't start doing something about it, it's going to stay like this forever or get even worse. It's not going to randomly change out of the blue.
If you are happy with the status quo, that's fine. Like for example, if your green card is right around the corner like bitzbtyz, or you really don't mind whether you get a gc or not like designserve, that's fine. However, if it's important to you like it is to me, then we have to DO SOMETHING. No one is going to do it for us. We are it. By all means, don't participate / contribute to IV if it doesn't serve your purpose. However, if it does serve your purpose, or if you have family or dear friends that could benefit from EB backlog reduction, then I am requesting you to help by participating in Advocacy days and/or contributing.

It is good to see the combined Immigration community efforts are bringing results. However, it appears that no attention is being paid to raise the issue of children ageing out because of visa t the benefit under CSPA.
I hope some one from Immigration Voice leadership team will take a lead to highlight such issues also before the law makers.
My elder son also aged out in 2005, and fortunately, we had Canadian PR Card by then and he had to move out of the country. He had completed his three years of college in US and when moved to Canada had to loose one and a half years of credits as Canada did not recognize all the classes he had taken in US..
What a waste of time and money due to this broken Immigration sytem..

I am just wondering do they assign it to officer when dates are not current ?
It seems yes, because if you look at , the approvals started from July 21st.
What matters is if it is assigned to an IO, at what position is your file...

Did you sent this letter to DOL? Some of us have been sending a template letter to DOL with the same concerns http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/showthread.php?t=19432 so far a replied letter from them has been received but no action further on. I am planning to push a letter out to more DOL personnel (Inspector General -Gordon S. Heddell- and Mr. James Aaron, of the Employment and Training Administration)

I have followed the activity at this site for a few weeks now. The Indian community in the US is probably the most well to do and educated of all the minorities. Yet history repeats itself. Most are more concerned about esoteric subjects, nuclear treaties etc than the plight of the people here from their own country. If all the Indian community naturalized or not would stand up for this cause, people would listen. They would be forced to. But as always divided we fall. Somehow once this dash for permanent residence is over for people, they not only lose sight of their own struggle but also of the thousands of others involved. How many members on this site are actually green card holders or citizens?
I do hope that everyone here endeavors to contribute with the same vigor ever after he or she has obtained his permanent residence. Immigration will always be a struggle and all should be united for the people who will come and face this daunting task over the years.
I live in Virginia and I have meet many of these so-called “Indian American” organizations who claim to be active in DC. None of these orgs of “established” Indian-Americans (IA) wants to help on green card delay issue. “established” IAs and their so-called active “Indian American” orgs are totally useless. Most IAs, who contribute to these orgs, make their contribution because these IA orgs get them opportunities for photo-ops with lawmakers or people of influence; and these IAs are happy with just their pictures with some Senator or congressman. These guys then probably show these pictures to their family and friends to give an impression that they are well connected and powerful. These people, some of them are doctors, do not want anything to do with our issue. Yes, nuclear issue draws their attention as it “sounds” like an “important” issue and makes them look more “important”, working on an “important” issue. And their contribution to Indian-American orgs is simply a hogg wash, just to get an opportunity for some useless pictures. I have seen these people and these orgs operate very closely and none of these so called “Indian-American” orgs and these established Indian-Americans is of any use at all. I was also told by another fellow that some of these Indian Orgs in DC are front for their businesses. We are dealing with selfish idiotic egoistic XXXXXXXX…. So rnanchal, you are right, these Indian Americans are a “big force”…. but only to click their digital cameras to take pictures with the lawmakers. This “big force” has repeatedly refused to help on green card delay issue.
Totally agree with the philosophy of IV that if we have to do something, we have to organize to fix our own problems. I live in Virginia and had a few opportunities to attend events on the Hill. With what I have seen, I can tell you that we can organize and make a massive difference in this debate. And it would be not just foolish, but totally irrational to depend on anybody (including so called “Indian American” orgs in DC) to work on the issue of green card delays.

I am able to see this online but did not receive any letter. I think we should receive the letter by the end of the week...very frustrating...

i asked the same question about rejection they said we dont accept any rejections and we will file MTR, and they dont have any rejections from past 6 years
one of my friend in the same company got approval in 3 months that one is not audited
we both filed at the same time atlanta centre he is lucky guy
Yeah, some people are lucky , some are are approved in 60 days(cases without audit) while we are stuck here for months. What is MTR? i Think they have denied a few audit cases, I saw on , i think if i'm not mistaken a certain case has october'07 audit reply and was denied this march '08 . i'm not sure. thanks for replying.:)

I just wanted to say that the rally, all the pre-rally prep, and meeting with lawmakers was such an intense and exhilarating experience! I feel so priviledged to have met some of the core IV people - I felt like a groupie meeting superstars! They are truly inspiring... There were so many other wonderful people I had the chance to meet who now make my wait more meaningful. It was such fun getting to know all of you and sharing the experience. I have wonderful memories of the entire event...

Reverting back to the original interpretation for allocating unused visa from other category and to oversubscribed country from the current new interpretation seems to be the only possible quick relief to EB3, though EB2 gets affected it is not going to be that severe.
**** Not sure, what is core IV's stand on this. Have not seen any update from core with regards to this ***
If we can approach the USCIS /DOS for Admin fix in this area, this should be possible, given that IV already has some success in the Admin Fix area. But seeing the lack of response from core IV for this particular thread (Overall they do a good job) regarding spill over, visa allocation, makes me this, core IV is not thinking there is an error with the new interpretation or IV was one of the main source that was instrumental for this change. The new spillover helps only India (EB2) looking at the number of pending cases from China and ROW. China hardly has less than 1000 cases prior to Mar '05 PD for EB2.
I'm not sure what happened to fellow EB3 ROW members... These folks at least will be current soon.. and India / China cutoff date will move the later PD very soon.
Comment plz... I would like to see what ROW member thinks... along with folks from oversubscribed countries
The title of the thread is misleading.
IV is already helping. The aim of IV is to eliminate retrogression so that everyone does not have to wait. We also understand that EB3 I is in a much greater mess than anyone else.
Good to see a response from Pappu. I genuinely understand IV is working for a relief for the entire EB Community and not biased for a specific category or to people from a specific country. But would it not be justified, If IV also address any specific issue that is causing severely pain to a specific groups of people and affects them negatively , along side with the core goals IV is working on.
Does IV think that changes made to the interpretation to the VISA allocation a good change and does IV also share the concern of few folks posting in this thread.
I think the lack of more active participation from EB3 members is due to the fact, is lack of confidence anything is going to change.
I do know, couple colleagues, who were not able to file 485 during July fiasco due to their labor approval after July '07 and missed filing 485 with PD's 03 /04 all in EB3 and I do feel for people like them as well.
Give the political climate / economic climate, anything through congress seems like it will at least couple years, admin fix might provide some benefits to folks really waiting with PD 01 / 03 at least.... Just my 2 cents.
Having said this, I do support IV's effort now and will do in future as well.

I had been talking to Sivakanth and he told me how yourself, Arun and all your DC gang worked tirelessly
YOU GUYS were EXCELLENT and WONDERFUL
All this shows how much has gone into this rally and planning. This will give a sense of what it takes to achieve something that is phenomenal in nature.

Hello,
I do see the 'argumentative Indian' of Amartya Sen in many here ... nothing wrong, that's what we are, so let's not get heated up...
I have seen IV grow over past 3-4 years from a small enthusiast group to a broader issue driven organization. When I was stuck in backlog, IV was the place to come and share my anxiety and hopes. It was then, that I decided to support IV on a regular basis.
Of course, you might want to provide support only for certain issues, but at the end of the day, organization needs money to sustain itself and to make itself visible. If you have been to Washington, then you would have noticed that there are almost all interests represented by lobbies. Lobbies make smaller interests visible to Washington. And IV is trying to raise visibility for all of us!
Isn't this a good enough cause to contribute? For those who want to see the IV credentials, we have forums where these are listed, but as of now we have a chance to raise our visibility in the crucial time of immigration reforms and we should grab it by both hands!
